FAMILY REDEEMER. Ruth: Waiting on God's Timing (Week 4 Thursday)

Message of Hope: Waiting patiently on the Lord is often hard for us, but it is worth the wait.

Read and S.O.A.P
Today's story ends as one of those happily-ever-after stories, but you might notice that

the author of Ruth does not make any spiritual applications. We the readers are left to connect

the dots as we reflect on the purpose of this story. So as this story comes to an end, try to

understand why this story was recorded in history and included in the Bible.

Read Ruth 4:13-22.

Which verse(s) stands out to you?

S.O.A.P it.

Please share your findings in the comments, if you're comfortable. We have so much to learn from each other.

  1. S - “Blessed be the LORD, who has not left you this day without a redeemer, and may his name be renowned in Israel! 15 He shall be to you a restorer of life... Ruth 4: 14b-15a

O – Naomi went through hard times. Really hard times, yet here she is holding her grandson who is the blood-line of OUR kinsman-redeemer, Jesus. Hers is not a pretty geneaolgoy by any means, but she allowed God to use her and in doing so, God blessed her beyond anything she could ever imagine.

A – What a great reminder to glean wisdom and encouragement from the beauty of life that is beyond the difficult twists and turns. Grace, restoration, and redemption are there for us. God is there to redeem the broken pieces of our lives, no matter our story.

P – Lord, our darkest moments are great opportunities to allow you into our lives. Redeem us. Direct us as we wait on you. Bring beauty from the ashes. Thank you for the story of redemption and love that is found in the book of Ruth. In the past I have gotten ‘stuck’ on the love story of Ruth and Boaz and I thank you for showing me that this story is so much more. It is the story of a pretty messed up, yet redeemed family that goes on to be part of the genealogy of OUR family redeemer, Jesus Christ. It is a human example of how we are meant to be family redeemers for those who come across our paths in life. Thank you, Lord for opening my eyes to so much more than the simple ‘hollywood love story’ that the book of Ruth was to me before I delved into it more and more these past four weeks.
